The Discipline

In my work as a CISO and Strategist, I deal with the known: logs, metrics, and forecasts. But the most critical threats—and the most profound opportunities—often lie in the unknown.

I explore Remote Viewing as a form of Human R&D. Just as we upgrade our silicon processors, I seek to upgrade the human instrument. By training the mind to access non-local data streams, we can solve "impossible" problems, anticipate "black swan" events, and unlock a level of creativity that linear analysis cannot touch.

This is not theoretical. I apply this discipline operationally as a member of Intuitive Forecasting, a consortium of professional remote viewers solving high-stakes intelligence problems for corporate clients.

What is Remote Viewing?

Remote Viewing is the scientific term for a method of structured clairvoyance originally developed by Stanford Research Institute (SRI) for the U.S. intelligence community (Project Star Gate). It is a controlled data retrieval protocol that allows a viewer to describe details about a "target" (person, location, event, or data stream) that is hidden by distance, time, or shielding.

Strategic Applications

Analysis is excellent at solving constrained problems. But there is a class of problems—"Crystal-Ball Questions"—that cannot be solved with analysis because they have no historical precedent.

Future Forecasting

Identifying high-impact "surprise" events that are not currently on the radar. "What is the most influential world event next year?"

Strategic Blindspots

Revealing risks or opportunities that the organization is ignoring. "What issue are we ignoring that will define our future?"

Technological Trajectory

Mapping the human impact of innovation beyond the hype cycle. "Which new startup will have the most positive impact?"

The Mechanism

The Science of Perception

To understand how this is possible, we must look at the architecture of the mind. Cognitive science identifies two primary modes of thought:

  • System 2 (Rational): Slow, serial, and effortful. It processes about 50 bits of information per second. This is where most business strategy lives.
  • System 1 (Intuitive): Fast, parallel, and massive. It processes approximately 11 million bits per second. It constantly scans the environment—local and non-local—for patterns.

Remote Viewing is a protocol designed to bypass the bottleneck of System 2 and directly access the high-bandwidth stream of System 1.

The "Aspirin" Analogy

Dr. Utts compares the effect size of remote viewing to the effect of aspirin on preventing heart attacks. While the effect is not 100%, it is statistically robust and reliable enough to be considered a scientific reality.
